And I'm not a fan of using your working drive as a guinea pig to learn how to do image backups. A fresh Windows install might point to which one, but doing a fresh install would require an extra hard drive or doing a disk image of your working hard drive. I don't know if I'd be able to make a Home install to test it, but I won't have any time for a few days at best.ģ) It could still be either messed up Windows settings or hardware incompatibility. "Pro" isn't the cause, but you never know until you test it. (Well, the fact that you got the same symptoms with two different sets of CDs sort of points to the disks being good, but still.)Ģ) We're assuming that the "Home" vs. There are more things you can try, but they get progressively harder to test.ġ) The CDs appear to be good, but I'd scan them with dvdisaster to be 100% sure. Only you can decide at what point you want to give up. only question at this point is - Will you use the CDs as static targets or as clay pigeons? No, wait, don't do that - you'd probably regret it, lol. I will use the CD's for target practice in A. Interestingly the Ubisoft online play network setup.exe runs fine and installs from the disc. Ran all compatibility modes and administrator authorizations and av was disabled. I initiate the install procedure which initially seems to work, the splash screen appears. NO JOY!! I received the new discs (U.S version this time) which looked pristine. What did you install it to? Or did you just copy the ISO file to some location?
You said you already installed the WMCT. You just have to learn the procedure for your PC.) Then you'd just follow the install instructions for a fresh Windows install. (Each PC has a different procedure for booting to a bootable flash drive. Then you'd have to turn on the PC and have it boot off of the bootable WMCT flash drive. Once you have your bootable flash drive with WMCT on it, you'd have to pull out your good Windows hard drive and install the blank spare hard drive. Then, you'd have to use a USB flash drive burning utility (like Rufus) to burn the ISO file onto the flash drive as a bootable drive. You'd go to the Microsoft web site and download the WMCT ISO file for your setup (Win 10 Home 64-bit English). Here's how the process would have to go with the Windows Media Creation Tool (WMCT). (Your 4TB ext HD probably has a USB connection, which also wouldn't work.) You'd need a hard drive with a SATA connection that you could wipe clean.
If you're using the 4TB external hard drive as a backup drive (that is, it has files on it that you need), then that drive wouldn't work. I just now installed windows media creation tool - how does this help? As for booting from a USB (storage device as well?) I have not tried this. Direct play is checked under 'Legacy components' of Turn Windows components on or off. I do have a large 4tereabyte external storage device.
